Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a powerful collaboration and communication platform that brings together chat, video meetings, file storage, and app integration—all in one centralized workspace.  As part of Microsoft 365, it enables your team to work smarter and stay connected, whether they’re in the office, remote, or on the go.

Think of Teams as your digital hub for teamwork:  instant messaging, high-quality video conferencing, seamless file sharing, and deep integrations with Microsoft apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.

How does it work?

    1. Unified Communication
Teams replaces scattered emails and disjointed tools with real-time chat, video calls, and virtual meetings.  Need to hop on a call? Launch a Teams meeting instantly from a chat thread or calendar invite.
    2. Channels & Chat
Create dedicated “Channels” for projects, departments, or topics. Organize conversations, share files, and keep everything in one place.  Private chats and group messages make it easy to stay in touch with colleagues in real time.
    3. Integration with Microsoft 365
Access and collaborate on documents directly within Teams.  No more switching tabs or losing version control – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint live right inside the platform.
    4. File Sharing & Collaboration
Securely store and share files within Teams using OneDrive and SharePoint integration. Co-author documents in real time, track changes, and streamline workflows.
    5. Meetings & Webinars
Schedule, host, and record meetings or webinars with advanced features like screen sharing, breakout rooms, and live captions.  Great for internal collaboration and external client interactions.
    6. Voice & Calling (Teams Phone)
Replace your legacy phone system with Teams Phone.  Get enterprise-grade voice capabilities, including auto-attendants, call queues, voicemail, and PSTN connectivity.

While Microsoft offers their own dialing plans, they also have left some flexibility for Teams Phone customers to “Bring Your Own Service Provider”.

Microsoft offers Service Providers two ways to interconnect into the Teams environment:

      1. Direct Routing allows organizations to connect their existing phone lines and calling plans to Microsoft Teams.
      2. Operator Connect is a service that enables direct Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) calling through Microsoft Teams using a customer’s preferred or new operator.
